Recipe for Mamtu, How to prepare it at home?

  • Heat the oil or ghee in a wok or frying pan and add the lamb.
  • Fry over low heat until lightly browned, stirring to separate the meat.
  • Add the onion and stir-fry until it is translucent.
  • Add the garlic, spices, and salt and stir-fry for another 3 minutes or until fragrant.
  • Transfer to a bowl to cool.
  • Place a heaped teaspoon of lamb filling in the middle of a wonton wrapper.
  • Brush the edges with a little water and draw two opposite corners together to meet in the middle.
  • Draw in the other two corners and seal the edges. You should have a square pouch.
  • Repeat with the remaining wrappers and filling.
  • Place the Mamtu in a steamer, making sure they don’t touch,
  • And steam for 10 minutes.
  • Top each Mamtu with a spoonful of yogurt,
  • Enjoy.

‘Sarfa Ranga’ cold desert jeep rally was held on Sunday (Aug 20) at one of the highest deserts of the world. This Jeep rally was first of its kind, Highest Cold Desert Jeep Rally in the world. About 200 drivers from abroad, Pakistan and the locals participated in the event.

Upper Kachura Lake Kachura Skardu.

Upper Kachura lake is also known as Frogh Scho. This lake is the second most beautiful lake in the vicinity of Skardu city. Upper Kachura lake is at a distance of 27.7km from Skardu city. It is easily accessible on cars. It is a beautiful lake with fresh and clear blue water surrounded by huge mountains and wild trees. The trees are covered with fruits mainly apricots. The temperature in summers can reach up to 20 C and in winters the lake is frozen. The main attractions of the Upper Kachura lake include its breathtaking scenery, trout fishing, boating, and mountain or hill hiking, and trekking.

 

Sadpara Lake Skardu Baltistan.

Nothing can beat the tranquility and spectacular beauty of Sadpara Lake. Sadpara Lake is one of the largest freshwater lakes in Pakistan. This place also serves as the base camp for four major mountains, including Gasherbrum II (8035m), Broad Peak (8047m), and Hidden Peak or Gasherbrum I (8068m), which are all dominated by the king of the mountains, K-2 (8611m). The view of K2 on a clear day is truly mesmerizing and Concordia is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful places in the world.

9. The K2 Mountain.

K2 is the second-highest peak in the world, with an elevation of 8611 meters. Locally known as “Chogori” in the Balti language, it is referred to as the king of mountains. Located in the Karakoram range on the border between Pakistan and China, K2 is a rocky mountain uphill for the first 6000 meters, but then the track transforms into a mountain of snow as you progress. In 1887, the British surveyor Goodwin Austin discovered K2 and various glaciers in the area. K2 gained international attention when a number of expeditions failed due to harsh weather conditions and strenuous track. Finally, Lino Lacedelli and Achilles Compagni climbed K2 and paved the way for others to follow.

10. Hisper, Snow Lake, Hoo Valley.

Snow Lake, also known as Lukpe Lawo, is a glacial basin located in the Karakoram mountain range in Gilgit-Baltistan. This high-altitude basin is situated at an elevation of 16,000 feet (4,877 m) and is about 10 miles (16 km) wide. The Biafo and Hispar glaciers originate from the Snow Lake basin and run in opposite directions, covering a distance of 61 miles (100 km) to form one of the world’s longest continuous glacier systems outside of the polar regions. The basin was named by Martin Conway, the first foreign visitor, in 1892, who described it as one of the most magnificent views of mountains he had ever seen. However, Snow Lake is very difficult to reach, and only around 200 people manage to visit it each year. This particular tourist destination is one of the best places to visit at Shigar Valley.

The Jamal Pass trek starts in the lush and picturesque Hoh valley, and crosses the 5300-meter-high Jamal Pass, descending towards the enormous Biafo glacier. From the Biafo glacier, trekkers can continue on the Biafo-Hispar Snow Lake Trek, which leads to Hunza. This new route offers a direct connection between Hunza and the Shigar Valley.

Berckuzh/Chap-churro

Chapshuro is one of the most delicious dishes of Gilgit Baltistan. It is the Gilgit Baltistan version of pizza. Chap Shuroo is a bread filled with a mixture of chopped Beef/Yalk meat,
onion, and other spices. Chapshoro is filled with chopped meat (lamb, beef), onions, chile peppers, tomato and fresh coriander leaves. They are baked on medium heat on for 15 minutes, until golden brown. Jugloot Gouro is the famous place for most delicious Chapchurro in Gilgit Baltistan.
